The Sandia Preparatory School Board of Trustees proudly announces the selection of Steven Albert as Sandia Prep’s next Head of School effective July 1, 2010. Albert will succeed Headmaster Dick Heath, who will retire in July after successfully leading the School since 1986.
Albert is currently Associate Head of School and Dean of Faculty at Hotchkiss School (Lakeville, Connecticut), where he has served as a teacher and administrator since 1993. Prior to his arrival at Hotchkiss, Albert taught at schools including Harvard University, Hartwick College and Germantown Friends School in Philadelphia. He has more than twenty years teaching experience at the secondary or college level.
Albert graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Physics with Honors from Haverford College. He holds a master’s in education from Harvard University as well as a master’s in physics from Portland State University.
The announcement of Albert as Sandia Prep’s next Head of School concludes a national search begun in January 2009 by the Sandia Prep search committee with the assistance of Educators’ Collaborative, a national firm specializing in independent school search consulting.
Albert will be the sixth Head of School in Sandia Prep’s 44-year history.
